Transgender community being one of the most marginalised communities in the country faced an immense challenge to merge into the general categories of gender of male or female. They encountered struggles varying from social exclusion to discrimination in every sphere. Consequently, the Parliament passed a landmark law in 2019 titled The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act to provide for protection of rights of transgender persons and their welfare.
